You can now listen to us live and participate in the show the first Tuesday of every month from 7pm until 10pm on MANCHESTER RADIO ONLINE www.manchesterradioonline.com next show will be on the 3rd March 2009 with a live acoustic session from IAN MCNABB. ------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dementia Show members are Andy Clegg, Andy Whitaker and Colin Smith; The Andy’s are members of the post Chameleons band THE SUN AND THE MOON, other band members being Mark Burgess and John Lever. You may have seen Andy Whitaker on a television set near you in THE BILL, CORONATION STREET, EMMERDALE, THE ROYAL and THE ROYAL TODAY and singing and playing guitar with Andy Clegg in local Venues at the weekend in their duo TWELVE STRINGS. The Andy’s started their entertainment career at the age of 14 presenting, interviewing and editing on Piccadilly Radio’s TRIPE AND ONIONS with Judith Waymont. In the 90s Andy Clegg presented his own radio show in Turkey and then later in South Africa.
Colin Smith played with both the Andy’s in ‘Music for Aborigines’ in the 1980’s and before that in a four-piece band (The Neighbours) with Andy Whitaker. Colin is well known for his theatre work in the Manchester area. He has appeared in over 70 plays; from Shakespeare to Ben Elton. He has played in a number of theatres in the area but has mostly worked at Guide Bridge Theatre and Oldham’s Lyceum Theatre, where he has also directed and was artistic director for three years. Recently he has turned to writing and his first play ‘Heaven Knows I’m Miserable Now’ is to be performed at the Lyceum next year. Colin has also worked as a professional photographer and has had a number of exhibitions in the Manchester area.
The “Midlife Dementia” show comprises of silly banter (it’s too far on into the 21st century to use the word Wacky), Silly sketches and brilliant music. It might be described as The Mighty Boosh meets Tony Blackburn in Steve Coogan’s bathroom.
